An iron alloy mainly composed of silicon, chromium and iron. Also known as silicon-chromium-iron alloy. It is mainly used as an intermediate alloy for the production of medium, low and micro-carbon iron by electrosilicothermic method. It is used as a deoxidizer (instead of ferrosilicon) and a chromium additive in steelmaking. Generally, it contains Cr>30%, Si>35%, and the balance is iron and a small amount of impurities. Classification according to carbon content, such as carbon content ≤ 0.06%, ≤ 0.10%, ≤ 1.0%, etc.
Application
Ferrochromium is mainly used in the production of stainless steel, ball bearing steel, tool steel, nitrided steel, heat-strength steel, quenched and tempered steel, carburized steel and hydrogen-resistant steel. This is because chromium plays a decisive role in stainless steel and determines the properties of stainless steel There is only one element in the genus, which is chromium, and every stainless steel must contain a certain amount of chromium. Application areas: The corrosion resistance of stainless steel mainly comes from chromium. Experiments have shown that the corrosion resistance of steel will be greatly improved only when the chromium content exceeds 12%. Therefore, the chromium content in stainless steel is generally not less than 12%. Therefore, the supply and demand of chromite is closely related to the supply and demand of stainless steel market. The ferrochrome should be lumpy. When the purchaser has special requirements for the particle size, the supply and purchaser parties shall negotiate separately.
